Cal Poly Supermileage Vehicle Again a Top Eco-Marathon Finisher

Supermileage Car Starting the Race

Cal Poly placed near the top at this year’s Shell Eco-Marathon Americas competition of high-mileage, fuel-saving prototype vehicles, coming in as the returning champion and taking second place with 2,752.3 miles per gallon.

HPV Peddles to First Place with Fastest Sprint Ever

Cal Poly’s Human Powered Vehicle kicked up some dust at the Western Division HPV Competition hosted in April by the University of Nevada, Reno.

Research Scholar Brings Green Experience to ME

John Dunning

Dr. John Dunning recently joined the Mechanical Engineering Department as its newest research scholar in residence. John came to Cal Poly with more than 30 years of experience in the automotive industry and will serve as a valuable resource for student research projects in the increasingly vital area of sustainable battery technology.

ME Professor Directs Students in Service Learning

Dr. Brian Self joined the department in September 2006 and quickly assumed an active role on campus. In addition to leading many exciting student projects which focus on service learning, he also participates in the Society for Engineering Education. Brian devotes himself to educating engineers who will strive to improve society and assist those with unique needs in their daily lives.

EVENTS Formula SAE to Compete in UK
