With over 1000 undergraduates, we retain a private school feel by having small classes taught by professors, not T.A.s. What really distinguishes Cal Poly ME, however, is our passion for undergraduate education. Our learning environment includes over 28 labs and a world-class shop that allows you to convert your ideas into actual prototypes.
Cal Poly ME graduates are highly recruited by industry because they are equipped with both technical and practical skills. Our design- and laboratory-intensive curriculum provides experiences that nurture your creativity and enable your dreams of invention.
The goal of the Mechanical Engineering program at Cal Poly is to turn out the world's best engineers. Period. We do this using our "learn by doing" philosophy that incorporates hands-on laboratories, design throughout the curriculum, a large number of individual and team-based projects, and a capstone senior design project. Our student clubs enhance learning by providing real world deadlines and international competitions. We also have an active co-op program and an international exchange program with Germany, Sweden, China, and South Korea.
