Dr. Tsai joined with the Mechanical Engineering department at Cal Maritime in 2013 and now as a part of the Cal Poly Maritime Academy since 2025. He earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in Mechanical Engineering. His dissertation work was in experimental fluid dynamics experiments (PIV) in cerebral blood flows. After completing his degrees, Dr. Tsai joined the Aerospace Corporation in the Engineering Technology Group, where he worked with launch vehicle propulsion. He is an active member of AIAA and was named an Associate Fellow in 2025. As a faculty member, Dr. Tsai welcomes students to stop by about course work, curriculum, or a casual chat about engineering.
