Dr. Lutz is interested in how engineers, learn, design, and make decisions across technical and social domains. His research focuses on sociotechnical thinking in different engineering contexts as well as engineering design thinking and learning. He uses primarily qualitative and mixed methods approaches to examine engineering formation in ways that can inform engineering education and pedagogy.
